Chairman's Message
It is my distinct pleasure to serve on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association, Capital of Texas Chapter. The following directive was adopted by our Board at the beginning of our current fiscal year. We stand ready to provide the highest possible levels of support to the seventeen (17) Central Texas counties we are honored to serve.

Mission Statement
To provide leadership to enhance care and support services for individuals and their families while supporting the advancement of research to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease.
Vision Statement
By 2007 the Alzheimer’s Association Capital of Texas Chapter will be the primary regional source of accurate, credible information and services designed to meet the needs of the Alzheimer’s population and their families using the most effective and efficient methods.
The Need
- 35,000 people in Central Texas have Alzheimer’s disease. This is projected to quadruple by 2030. 80% of care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease is provided in the home, usually by an aging spouse of adult child. Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease require increasingly comprehensive care for 3 to 20, or more years.
- Alzheimer’s disease costs Americans over $100 billion annually
As Austin and the surrounding areas continue to grow, we anticipate that the demand for our services will expand exponentially.
The Board of Directors of the Chapter is working to build the infrastructure necessary to increase services as the need grows.
- Inviting concerned, committed leaders in our community to join us in the fight. Continuing to expand critical services and programs and add additional services as necessary.
- To put in place the funding mechanisms to allow these services to continue to expand as they are needed.
