Memory Walk is the Alzheimer's Association's national signature event to help those battling Alzheimer's disease. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $230 million and is the largest national fundraising event for Alzheimer’s disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association relies 100% on donations, we receive no federal support. The funds raised through these four Memory Walks will stay in the community to support the following:

• Serving 17 counties in Central Texas.
• Assisting 23,000 Central Texans in 2003.
• Continuing medical research, care, and support.

Services include:

• 24-hour HelpLine
• Safe Return
• Memory Screenings
• Support Groups
• Respite Care
• Education Seminars
• Family Consultations

Memory Walk is a rain or shine event, so please join us even if it’s wet outside!

You too can make a difference in the lives of those dealing with Alzheimer's.
Millions of men, women and children will participate in Memory Walk as walkers, volunteers and sponsors this year! Participants walk as individuals or as part of a team. Walkers ask friends, family, business associates and others to sponsor them by making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association. Others volunteer their time to register walkers, staff rest stops and offer refreshments.

By joining Memory Walk you help...
To show your support for Alzheimer families in your community. To protect future generations from this disease. To help achieve a world free of Alzheimer's disease.

Ways you can show your support

  • Sponsorship - sponsorship is one way in which you and your company can give back to the community. We have many levels of sponsorship, including monetary or in-kind donations and door prizes. Your sponsorship of this worthwhile and highly visible event will increase awareness and create necessary funds in Central Texas to help those dealing with this difficult disease. We welcome your participation and involvement at any level. For more information, please contact Malorie Peacock at (512) 241-0420, ext. 13 or via email at Mpeacock@txalz.org.

  • Teams - We encourage you to experience the kinship, commitment and fun of forming a team to help local Alzheimer's patients and caregivers. Memory Walk is a pledge-based event, and reaching our fundraising goal depends on participants to raise money from their friends, family and coworkers. Teams fall into several categories including: family, school, business, clubs/organizations, or church. Team members often share a common purpose for walking. Many teams walk in memory or in honor of a loved one. Whatever the reason for a team's formation, there is strength in numbers. For more information on forming a team or joining a team in the fight against Alzheimer's disease, please contact Malorie Peacock at (512) 241-0420, ext. 13 or via email at Mpeacock@txalz.org.

  • Volunteer - Give your time, give your talent, give yourself - Volunteer! Volunteers play a significant role in the Alzheimer's Association, Capital of Texas Chapter.   Volunteers help advance our mission of supporting people with Alzheimer's disease and related memory disorders, their families, and those professionals who care for them.   When you sign up as a volunteer, not only will you be working to fight Alzheimer's disease, you will also be joining forces with others in the community to build relationships that will last the rest of your life. We need you!   Are you new to volunteering? Don't think you have time? Don't think you can make a difference? You would be surprised what you can do. Contact Malorie Peacock at (512) 241-0420, ext. 13 or via email at Mpeacock@txalz.org to volunteer with your local Memory Walk! We can't do it without you!"

    Why Be A Volunteer?

    It's not for the money
    it's not for the fame
It's not for any personal gain.

It's just for love of your fellow man,
It's just to give a helping hand.

It's just to give a little of one's self,
That's something you can't buy with wealth.

It's not for a medal worn with pride,
It's for that feeling deep inside.

It's that feeling that you've been a part
Of helping people far and near

    That makes you a volunteer!
